The departments of The college of fine arts pioneers in new approaches to fine art teaching and practice-based research. The cosmopolitan nature of the student body and the thriving intellectual culture of the department together provide many and various opportunities to develop cross-cultural collaborations within the field.

In addition to taught programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, the department continues to develop a thriving PhD programme. We promote the making and understanding of contemporary art through practical and critical engagement between staff, students and the professional art world.

We are committed to the idea that contemporary art is best taught through direct contact with artists, curators and writers and our graduates develop careers shaped by their critical engagement with cutting edge artistic practice and research in these areas. We think it is crucial to see art as a continuing, transformative and trans-national undertaking taking place within the contemporary public world.

Foundation: The initial year (comprising 2 semesters) comprises a Foundation course that familiarizes students with fundamental aspects of Visual Arts such as sketching, coloring, sculptures, design, murals and printmaking. This foundational exposure empowers students to opt for a specialization aligned with their aptitude starting from the third semester onward

Department of Painting: The Department of Painting equips the students with an ability to read into the dimensions of art by understanding its grammar. It brings about creative thinking coupled with its responsibilities, to apply its logic to various possibilities. This life sustaining skills make them adaptable to various societal needs. Courses available in this stream are BVA &
MVA.

Department of Sculpture: The contemporary interpretation of the term “Sculpture” embraces a wider perspective, extending beyond traditional materials to include metal, wood, terracotta and industrial materials like fiberglass. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of sculpture’s
language in a broad context, exploring its connections to architecture, landscape, and the dynamic interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Department of Printmaking: Printmaking guides students in the skill of producing and creating images with precision. This art form encompasses manual, mechanical, and digital methods, including techniques such as lithography, serigraphy, linography, Woodcut, etching, Intaglio and photo transfers. Our fully equipped studio provides BVA and MVA courses in the field of printmaking.

Department of Applied Art: Practitioners in applied art, convey ideas and symbols through targeted messages for the public. Designers hold a pivotal position in the field of visual communication, influencing diverse elements such as corporate identity, branding, conceptual design, promotional materials, advertising, as well as UI/UX design.

Department of Art History: Art history serves as the theoretical cornerstone for visual arts. The courses provide in-depth insights into global art history, covering Indian, Western and Far Eastern art from prehistoric to contemporary periods. The BVA and MVA programs aim to develop skills in perceiving, analyzing, and articulating thoughts about art.

Department of Ceramics: The Ceramics program is tailored for the undergraduates, aiming for excellence in technical skills and conceptual understanding. Emphasizing contemporary ceramic art techniques, we foster mastery in clay construction. Our resources support students in achieving professional excellence in the realm of clay-based artistry.

Department of Animation: Discover the art of animation in our all-encompassing BVA course. Delve into animation filmmaking, motion graphics, 2D, and 3D techniques.
